About the Program

The purpose of this online program is to give the student tools, information, and strategies to equip them in a way that will give them the best chance of success when starting a business. Topics discussed will include risk, economics, the global market, ethics, legal considerations, organization, human resources, and marketing. As the students read, complete practices and assignments, discuss, and take assessments, they will gain a practical understanding of the components of a small business and the steps that one takes to create and establish that business, from the idea, to the business plan, to the strategies for helping that business to succeed and grow.

The program will provide an introduction to the concepts and uses of accounting in a business environment. The primary areas of study include analysis of business transactions, recording procedures and the use of ledgers and journals, accounting for sales and purchases, managing cash, payroll, accruals and deferrals, and preparation and analysis of basic financial statements. After completing this program, students will have solid understanding of business and financial accounting and its role in bookkeeping administration.

Students will learn how to use QuickBooks Online Plus by completing two monthly accounting cycles. The lessons will cover accounting for selling service items, service and inventory items, preparing payroll and creating a new company.

The majority of the program will be conducted through drill exercises and related practice activities and quizzes based on the knowledge you have gained through completing each chapter.
